I running an EVGA RTX 3070 FTW3 (overclocked) with a 8700k cpu and a 240hz 1080p monitor getting really good performance while gaming. I've read where other's have the same cpu and are bottlenecking a lot with the graphics turned down to reach the highest framerate possible. My question is, if I turned the graphics up some, would there be more or less of a bottleneck? Would it perform any better or worse?

I usually test at high & ultra since that is usually the worst case scenario for a bottleneck. With those settings about 1/3 of my games have close to the same frames at 1440p as 1080p.

 

This is RDR 2 with Hardware Unboxed settings. It is with a i7 8086k and a 2080 ti so close to the performance of your rig.  1080p is pointless with these settings.

From the screenshot, I'm seeing virtually no difference from either 1080p vs 1440p.

 

Can you explain what you mean that 1080p pointless?
