Good 3080 laptops under 3400?

I am in the market for a new laptop, and I know I am not going to exactly thin and light. I want to make a laptop battle station, and it will stay home most of the time. I have a budget of 3400 dollars. I don't really have any preferences... I'm open to whatever you throw at me!

I'm not familiar enough with all the options out there to give you a good recommendation. However, make sure you look at some professional reviews of whichever ones you end up considering. In many cases, a 3070 mobile outperforms a 3080 mobile because of power and thermal constraints. Plus, the 3080 mobile gets hotter than the fires of Hades, so laptops with that often become uncomfortably hot, particularly around the keyboard.

$3400 USD?

you can probably find a Clevo X170KM-G. it looks like from XoticPC you can get a 3080 and 10700k for that price or configure it differently to what you need.
It's a chonk but it's also the fastest gaming laptop. If you want a desktop replacement style machine it's pretty much the best, everything is upgradable, I/O is exceptional, performance is great.

Clevo is also usually good about providing new parts and upgrades, I can actually throw that same 3080 MXM card from the km-g in my sm-g if I can find one. The motherboard is also interchangeable so If I wanted TB4 I could do that as well. I really hope clevo gives as much love to the X170 line as they did the P775

(I have the 2080S version (X170SM-G) with a 10900k and I reviewed it here)

why no dark mode?

I run an Eluktronics Prometheus XVII laptop with an AMD ryzen 5800h and rtx 3080 150 watt version.  At the end, shipped to my door it ran 2800 USD. It's a Clevo design but it's built very solid. And my cpu sits around 74c during gaming sessions.  GPU has not exceeded 78c during extended gaming sessions.

yep, except the 30 series cards are NOT the same as the desktop cards. It's still the laptop 3080 sadly so not desktop 3080 performance. (But it is the highest spec laptop 3080 available (165W).)
