Windows 10 21H1 bug

Since I updated my windows to 21H1 I've been getting this bug whenever I opened VALORANT where every app that I opens became buggy and I cannot use them properly (only showing either white or black screen) I don't know if other games does this too in this update but I only have VALORANT installed so...

Well, your memory is above 90% which means Windows will start moving programs to the page file on your C drive, which makes everything very slow.

That's also part of the equation.

 

How much RAM do you have?

Are your games and OS running off of spinning rust or SSDs?

How's the health of your storage devices? (check with crystaldiskinfo).

Having the same issues. It seems to be that everything runs fine. But once I launch valorant the valorant icon goes black as pictured in the previous post. So do some other apps like Spotify & all taskbar apps. 

 

What shows is that explorer is not working anymore, can't get into any documents or run the explorer to search. 

 

(I predownloaded before I got the windows update notification so might not do that again)

 

Hoping to find a fix through forums, but so far there are no major complaints about this issue so I haven't seen a working solution online yet.

 

I have a rtx 2060S with 6GB ram and lots of space on my C drive. 

If someone is willing to look into it, feel free to ask me what system specs I run/have.

Since this was the first post connecting valorant to the question, I could redefine my search and found that's its alot of people getting issues here. 

Reddit gave the explanation. It's something to do with riot vanguard. 

For more info here u go. 

No fix other then downgrading to 20h2 or waiting for a riot vanguard update since riot is aware.

I feel like there is something wrong with the newest update of windows 21H1, I don't know how/why valorant is being affected by this but I'm positive It is because of the update, also I 'reset' my PC 'cause of this thinking I got some kind of virus, and when I installed valorant, the bug did not occur until I decided to update windows again. I also told my friend to get the new updates thinking there would be some optimization here and there but he was also got this particular bug. I'm kinda glad to know that we are not the only ppl who have this issue, hopefully microsoft resolves this bug in the next updates.

NGL, the devs of Valorant are obviously incompetent. System breaking bugs are bound to occur when the game basically installs an always running kernel level driver rootkit to your system. I wonder if they have/will ever get taken to court regarding Riot Vanguard...

I have the same exact problem. When I open Valorant apps get black and I can't work properly on my Pc. I tried a lot  of ways to fix the problem but no solution yet. I guess I am not gonna open this game until riot releases a new patch. Unlucky :( D:

Every Windows update brings with it bugs of one kind or another.  You are always safest by delaying all the updates for at least a month.  let others be the beta tester.  I always keep a USB install ISO of the Windows version that the three family PC's are running just in case.

I Faced this issue also, i just uninstalled 21H1 update now everything fine.

Below are the steps -

1) Go to settings >> Update and security >> View update history >> Uninstall updates 

2) Carefully select the windows update version 21H1 (it's very explicitly mentioned so it won't be hard to find, also my apologies as I don't remember the exact name of the update, writing these instructions after uninstalling mine)

3) Uninstall the update, enjoy!

I have seen this happen to quite a few people, personally i wait a few months after a major patch to be sure its stable.

facing this same issue. i updated to 21h1 then opened then every icon turns black and windows explorer crashes. tried reinstalling but problem still occurs.

Maybe it's the ring 0 driver of the anti-cheat (Vanguard) that Valorant uses.

Ring 0 drivers have access to everything and can cause many kinds of problems.
