I need help from Xbox Players

I bought and downloaded the Series X version of Resident Evil Village, but I need to be able to play the Xbox One version.  I’m planning to log into a friend’s account and help him with some stuff in the game, and he only has Xbox One with the disc version of the game.

 

On PS5, you can easily choose which version of a game you want to play, but I’m not seeing an option to do that on Xbox Series X.  Does it even give me the Xbox One version when I buy the Series X version digitally?  And how do I play it?

Xbox has Smart Delivery. There is no Series X|S and One versions. You put in the disc or download and you get the version you need.

Then let me phrase my question like this:

 

If I play the digital version of the game on my Series X on my friend’s account, will he then be able to use that saved data and keep the stuff I unlocked to play with the disc version of the game on his Xbox One?

Yes, that should work. In any case, you have no choice. I'd do something small, first, and make sure it transfers. If it's all good, then go wild.
