A 8300, 8310 or a 8320e would be a nice upgrade and that motherboard should handle it at stock without problems.

Any FX 8xxx CPUs at stock settings then. Better update the BIOS to the latest release before you change the CPU.

What for? If this is for gaming you are unlikely to see any gained performance. Even the best fx cpu cannot play certain new games at 60 fps anymore due to it being so weak. Used fx cpu's tend to also still be very expensive and they are not worth the money at all. I would recommend you basically save up.

As for upgrades DO NOT go past a fx4300. The board can support higher core count fx cpu's BUT IT FRIES ITSELF. It is a terrible motherboard that can and will die when even a fx6300 is used (this is from personal experience back in the day with this one and the asus 780 chipset one and well hunderds of people online). These boards were not made to handle anything but the lowest end cpu's and it shows.
