For what?

 

It still is fine for gaming and whatnot right now. So I would just wait for the new platforms and then do a jump into the new hardware cycle.

I used to stream using a 3470

Gaming might be depending on games.

Video encoding my 3rd gen PC could video encode ok.

my current  i5 6400 is pretty stable compared to my old pc

no Skylake used ddr4 and intel and amd are for the moment on ddr4

CPUs and motherboards aren't too hard to get. Memory has increased again, but nowhere near as bad as 2017. I'd probably upgrade if I were you. A Ryzen 7 5800x would be a good place to start.

 

It would double your resources, have higher IPC, and have higher frequency. Also no impact from security mitigations like Skylake has.
