is my pc Works i5 4690K?

Go to solution Solved by Tech87,

The i3 4150 is a Haswell chip from socket 1150.

You can upgrade to any cpu on the 1150 socket, including the 4590/4690.

Hi sorry i have a question i have a prebuild pc from HP and the spec is :

HP
CPU: i3 4150
GPU: Gtx1050ti
Ram:8GB DDR3 1600Hz
MB:Asus H81M
Storage:750GB HDD WD Green
PSU: 300W
and i already updated my Bios to latest version and my i3 is 2 core and its dying on games and i want to upgrade it if i buy i5 4690k or 4590 it will work fine and directly work? i dont want to overclock it just use it stock and thanks for helping

Be careful with your lower end power supply though, as 300w is rather low, and i wouldnt recommend getting a chip with a much higher TDP than your 4150, which is 54w.

Also, if you won't be overclocking, you don't need a K chip. The non k chips should save you a few bucks, which you could use on a small power supply upgrade.

The 4770 for 110$ is by far the better deal. The i5 4690k is a very small upgrade over your i3.

Also look into the 4770(t,s,k), 4790 (s,t,k) or the weird i7 4875t. Sure the s and t series will be a bit slower but they still are the better upgrade.
