i have a personal hatred for most gigabyte products, every time i give them a chance they seem to make some bone-headed mistake.

my neighbor's gigabyte board has got dual bios, and it just likes randomly switching back and forth, and completely screwing up the bios settings as a result...

although.. that said, you shouldnt shop by brand.. every brand has good products and bad products.

both have their stupid boards that are just to avoid.

but generally, I think more MSI would be on the recommend  or decent enough list, even if at times they price things up a bit.

some like certain gigabyte boards, but can be some quirks with gigabyte.

But I do wish LTT could cover every brand BIOS (2021) and what each brand might offer, do it from maybe their most feature rich BIOS's from each brand?

Also if their style or UI helps.

i have an MSI z370 gaming plus and i have yet to have an issue with it. i like MSI because they seperate their motherboards into 3 main categories. MAG being their lower end like the B460 tomahawek, MPG being their middle with boards like the Z590 gaming plus and MEG being their higher end with boards like the Z590 godlike. most other companies dont do this and just place everything they got on 1 product section leaving you to spend hours finding the board you want.

thanks for the like renaldsq. one thing more is that so far MSI is the only company i have seen that does a regular livestream so you can answer them questions directly.

This is one of those personal preference things. Both are a tier manufacturers. When I bought a z390 board I went with gigabyte as they had the better vrm and cooling at the time. The dual bios of the gigabyte I like as well as if one fails you can switch between the two. That being said, gigabyte bios screens are God awful. MSI is more modern looking and I think a little more intuitive.

I would probably land on a price range you are looking to spend then look at reviews for both in that price range.

I've used both and had no trouble with either, though the MSI did have this nifty "load bios updates with nothing but power and a usb thumb drive" feature.

I don't use either now in favour of Asus.

Indeed, set your price cap and compare them directly.

Good advice. I finally started using Asus again after personally avoiding them for a while for how they handled a warranty issues a number of years ago.

i looked up gigabyte before making my comment and they have all their motherboards grouped in 1 secotion for if its a arous, gigabyte or ultra durible not specific teirs for "this board is at a better level then this board"

Their aorus series is their higher end, then the ultra durable line, followed by their name alone. Marketing schemes and determining the difference is always a pain.

with 2 brand names in being arous and gigabyte. it seems like its more of 2 companyies with one being the parent company.

Yeah, product quality and customer service are two things at the top of my "nice vendor" list. Ironically I've never had an Asus device fail so can't comment on customer service.

But our consumer protection law here is tilted very heavily in favour of the customer for the first 30 days, so if your supplier starts talking about RMA during this period you can just send it back as "faulty" and demand a refund, people have even done it with cars.
