1.How fast is your internet?You don't need such a fast cable,it's not going to help with anything.

 

2.Ethernet doesn't lose speed with length,a 100m cable will have the same speed as a 2m cable.I know because my cable is about 100m long.

So get only how much cable you need,don't need those high speeds if you'r internet isn't as good as the cable.

How long of a distance are you going?
Any Cat7 (or above) rated cable should be capable of handling 10Gb up to 100m (and even as far back as Cat5E can handle gigabit at 100m) so you should be good with just about any cable unless you are running a cable over 300ft.

How long does the cable need to be? That's very expensive for a cable if you don't need the rugged aspects of it.

You dont need Cat8 cable.

Wait, CAt8?

 

Firstly I dont think this is certified so it may claim Cat8 but it's most likely not. Arguable because #2, gold connectors don't mean shit for a plug housing since it doesn't actually connect electricity. 

 

And #3 as most people pointed out, You dont need cat8, and it probably wont be "needed" until 10-20 years from now, long after you and/or your roommate move out. 

 

Monoprice sells good cable at good prices, I'd get it from there. You can get 50ft of CAT6 cable for $10
