Was buying a 5900X a waste of money?

Hey everyone, I have a RX 6900 XT and a 5600X with a 1440p monitor. In some games that use CPU a lot like Warzone, Rainbow Six Siege Competitive Settings I get low GPU utilization and low FPS. Like on all low settings, I get lower FPS than all Ultra settings which is caused by a CPU Bottleneck I think. So today I ordered a 5900X to replace my 5600X but I am not sure If I did something correct since some people told me that I will see no difference. Should I cancel my order?

Thanks.

pretty much only this would benefit from 8 core from what i read

most games runs fine on 6

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

For gaming alone, yes, the 5900X is a waste. I just upgraded to one myself from a 3700X, and in games *maybe* I might get an extra couple of frames here or there. I bought it for productivity, though. Anything over 8 core is totally unnecessary for gaming and will be for a long time.

The 5800x which has 8 core seems like terrible value so I got the 5900x. But seems like it won’t make a difference so I am just going to cancel it.

Strange, you have separate PCIe power cables going to the 6900XT?

I have 3 seperate PCIE Power Cables since my 6900 XT has 3x8 power pins. I mean I only have this issue with low demanding games on competitive settings. Games with nice graphics run just fine so I though the cpu is not good enough.

probably, games don't benefit from 12 cores. the 5800x would have been a better choice.

my signiture was cool, but its a lie now

Yeah but there was only a 100$ difference between the 5800x and 5900x I think it makes more sense in terms of value

i mean, i understand what your saying. but if you can't utilize more than 8 cores, anything above 8 cores is a waste. games at max use 8 cores (and most probably dont benefit from more than 6) so i feel like the 5800x would be better value, but if you can ultilize 12 cores (say your a content creator) than yeah, for just $100 50% more cores and threads that will help your workloads, definetely.

my signiture was cool, but its a lie now
