Is it possible to use RAM as hard drive with a software?

Continuing my other post, yet it's a bit different so I made a new topic, I wanted to know if it's possible to use RAM as drive, even for a short time.

Not using dedicated hardware, but with software -  is it possible?

You can use what is called a Ram disk.

Note that depending on your system performance might not be much better than a high end SSD due to the software overhead.

Another factor is how large you make the virtual disk based on available system RAM.
 There is no "Real" limit aside from how much RAM you've got in the first place. If you dedicate too much RAM to the virtual disk it can make the system slower since the OS itself need x amount of RAM to function properly.
You'll have to experiment to find the best balance based on your OS, RAM and all else.
