Chia (XCH) Discussion Thread

Been plotting on 3 intel systems (all overclocked) and haven't had an issue. My SFF 9900K which is the farmer and was doing 4-5 simultaneous plots had 14 days uptime when I stopped it to update chia to 1.1.6 and installed updates/rebooted for good measure, now 7 days since. 5960X doing 5-6 simultaneous plots and mining on 1-2 cards at the same time crashed once at the beginning, I dialed overclock back by 100MHz and all fine since.

I have noticed my 9900k system is the most stable with chia. Have not had an issue with it yet and it burns through the plots very fast with a per-core overclock. 5.2 on one and 5.1 on all cores with a 4.8avx. It’s on a large water system though.  But my 5950x system can just stomp it, however it has issues with stability. It’s only crashed once when I had a bottleneck with my m.2 drive running at sata speeds but once I fixed that it’s now stable.

edit: I finally got the main plotting rig up and running. 64 cores 128 threads, 256gb 3600 ram, 24tb m.2 nvme ssd ability. And should have 40  10tb drives installed by end of the week. I wonder how fast this system will fill the drives?  More drives can be installed later.

This has been a stressful build but loads of fun.

Nope, plan was fill up what I have and stop there unless I could fund it from itself, and the way things have gone (network >10 times bigger, price down to a third of what it was) IMO it would be a waste of time / money, unless you go big at  >1PB it doesn't seem worth it.

i'm honestly just waiting for the official pools to open now. solo farming became a thing of the past real quick.

I am just over 2000 plots now. I need to fill up my bays and should have around 6000 plots when finished filling everything up. My only hold up has been time off to finish building it all.

Will probably pull the plug soon, not worth the hassle anymore. Price is low, netspace is high, and with 80TB ETW just keeps slipping further.

I am going to complete my system plot it all out and just let it run and see what happens long term. Probably not worth it but I have wasted more money on dumber shit. I only have 6xch so far but if I let it run long term maybe some day…

The problem with chia is it was a pump and dump and no one figured it out until it was all over. Almost all coins were pre mined. I feel the network is stalled and likely dead as are all the future plans.

Except unless it's changed (haven't followed lately) you have to replot everything.

What's your earnings/day/TB?

yeah you'll definitely need to re-plot, but there are programs out there that have this process automated. delete a normal plot, re-plot a pool plot. that way you will minimise production loss.

earnings so far are mostly speculation, since this pool has been open for pioneers for a few days now. so definitely not long enough to be sure. my 200TB farm should be good for about 4 dollars a day though.

Yeah so that makes even the highest price you could pay for a scalped GPU look like a bargain, just what I thought...

You'd make more just selling the drives.

it's a complete guess though, most calculators get that number up to 12 bucks a day. imo that seems a bit optimistic though.
