Air Cooler for a Ryzen 5800x

Pepsi Love

Im pretty Tech stupid, and only have a handful of parts laying around to mess with. I know it will fit and I have a full mesh airflow case. so my main question is. will a phanteks ph-tc12dx cool a AMD Ryzen 7 5800X decently?  My buddy hooked me up with the 5800x and the AIO he was running with it, but I dont want to deal with the headache of a failed pump cause im tech stupid......so im curious if my Phantex ph-tc-12dx will do the job (yes I know it might sound like a jet engine)

The cooler you listed looks like going to be enough if you just using it normally (no heavy overclocking)

But for couples bucks more you can get a noctua nh-u12s black

No overclocking. I just use my rig for gaming at 1080p and casual streaming. I wouldnt even know how to begin overclocking. >_> Im a pre-built casual who only just started dabbling in upgrading stuff.

Oh and also if your budget and case allow and your motherboard have another unused fan connector, try to add more fan into it

current set up is Phanteks P400A 3 front intake fans, 1 rear exhaust, AMD Ryzen 7 5800X, B550 Chipset (not sure of the exact model) just havnt decided on what type of cpu cooler to use yet.  The AIO my buddy gave me, or use my spare phanteks ph-tc12dx

I'd say nhu12s if low budget
nhd15/drp4 if okay with you (Still considerably low budget)

If you didn't already buy the air cooler, I'd say used that aio first...

But if you already buy it you can try them one by one with cpu stress test to see which one is better (if you have time to do it)

And see which one is giving you more cooling...

Also what aio is that?

I get the love for the U12S, i really do. But dont call it low budget, its a mid end.

If you want a good value cooler then go for something like Hyper 212 EVO, Scythe Mugen 5 or Fuma 2, Bequiet Dark Rock series, or ID Cooling lineup.

But imho, go with what you have and use it to the ground OP. Not much to gain if you already own those 2 coolers.

AIO my buddy gave me with it is a Asetek 670LS 240mm (but it looks like its seen hell) and had the phanteks ph-tc12dx already from a previous rig and knew it fit, but heard the 5800 gets toasty so I was like....yikes better ask.

Overclocked? Yes. But at stock, the heat output is actually very tameable.

okie dokie, thanks. I was really worried between the heat of the cpu, coupled with my 3060 it was gonna be to much for my case fans and cpu cooler to handle, but it sounds like it should manage fairly well.  Appreciate it.

If it's "hand me down" and "looks like it's seen hell" i definitely not going to used it...

Especially if the pump make funny noise and the radiator has some Bends in it
