Looking to build an all-in-one gaming/streaming PC; Also, Laptop for my wife who is a graphic designer/book cover designer

Budget (including currency): $2000-$3000 or PHP100,000 to $150,000

Country: Philippines

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for:

Games:

Cyberpunk 2077

Xcom 2

New Triple A RPG Games (I'm not even really sure what's out there at the moment)

Streaming (I heard 720p, 60fps is decent; not sure if 1080p is worth it. But better quality video with no stuttering, the better)

My wife may probably use it for her graphic design work from time to time. And some very light video editing/rendering.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Peripherals: a decent webcam for streaming

Resolution: 4K, 60 FPS (using a 4K TV as my monitor); I will probably not upgrade to a higher refresh rate monitor, and only upgrade to a higher refresh rate TV once they become cheaper

Upgrading From: an 11.5 year old, 1st Gen Core i7-920, with 12gb ram, and GTX 970

Case: I'm somewhat in love with Phanteks P600S. I dunno why. Haha. Though I'm also considering an ITX PC, but the NR200P looks so plain, while the Evolv Shift 2 Air seems a bit complicated to work with, especially if I plan to swap parts.

Here is the build I'm thinking about: Link to the local shop in case you are curious (http://pchubpricelist.online/)

  • Theoretical Total Build Price: at least $2350
  • Processor: Ryzen 3600 priced at ~$223
    • Should I consider a 5600x? It's 71% more expensive at ~$382
  • GPU: MSI 6800XT Gaming X Trio priced at ~$1,274
    • with the MSI Motherboard Bundle, it's only 6% more expensive than a 6800 (~$1,201, Gigabyte Gaming OC)
    • 33% more cheaper than a 3080, bundle price (~$1,905, MSI Gaming X Trio)
    • only 9% more expensive than a 3070, bundle price (~$1,164, Inno3D Twin 2x)
    • Around 96% more than US MSRP
    • Do I really need this level of gaming power, or should I go with the 6700xt, which is 26% cheaper bundled? (~$892, AsRock Challenger D)
  • MotherBoard: MSI MAG B550M Mortar, Wifi, priced at ~$185
    • I like this board with the onboard wifi + ALC 1200
    • Is ALC 1200 even important?
    • According to the tier list, it has good VRM thermals (Tier A), allowing me to slot in an overclocked 5900x in the future
    • Also, brand bundle price helps lower the cost of the GPU
  • PSU: MSI MPG 650W A650GF at ~$106
    • Is this enough?
    • Not part of the bundle, just saw it as the cheapest 650W that is a Tier A in the PSU List
  • HDD: 4TB Seagate, 5400 rpm at ~$103
  • SSD: 1TB Patriot VPN100 at ~$152
    • should I consider a 2TB one? (~$306)
    • Should I consider a lower specced NVME, like a Crucial P2 (1TB is at ~$117, 23% cheaper than the VPN100)
  • RAM: 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4, Crucial Ballistix 3600MHZ, CL16 at ~$123
    • this is the cheapest 3600, CL 16 that I can find in the local shop's inventory
    • Most 3600MHz ram at this price point has are CL18
  • Case: Phantek P600S at ~$184
  • CPU Cooler: I dunno what I need. A little help?

What do you think? Should I change/reconsider anything?

Also: What do you think about this laptop for my wife, for very light video editing, and mainly graphic design work?

For reference, this Lenovo Laptop is roughly $1,400

Or should I just let her buy a Macbook Pro, M1 chip?
For reference, this Macbook Pro with 1TB SSD and 16GB RAM is roughly $2,160 locally

Thanks in advance for the feedback!

I would switch the power supply for something like 750-850w because you want a powerful video card. i think the 5600x is worth it, or maybe a 5800x if the budget permits? Cpu cooler should be a 240mm AIO by really any name brand out there for top performance. if you are using a 3600, any tower air cooler should be fine.

Gaming PC:

CPU- Intel Core i5-10400 (planning to upgrade when Alder Lake releases)

CPU Cooler- be quiet! Dark Rock Slim up to 180W TDP

Motherboard- Asus ROG Strix B460-h Gaming

Memory- Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR4-3000 CL15 memory

Storage- Crucial P2 1TB M.2-NVME SSD up to 2400 MB/s

Video Card- MSI Ventus 2x Geforce RTX 3060 Ti OC

PC Chassis- Cooler Master TD500 MESH ARGB with Controller

Power Supply- EVGA 650w P2 (planning to upgrade to EVGA 80+ Gold 1k watts)

Rear Fan- Touchaqua Bitspower Notos RGB fan

Monitor- Acer EI272UR 2560x1440 144hz 4ms Radeon Freesync monitor

Keyboard- Logitech G810 Orion Spectrum

Mouse- Logitech G203 Lightsync (planning to upgrade to g502 HERO)

Controller- Xbox One Wireless Controller - Red

LaptopProcessor- Ryzen 7 4700U (8c/8t up to 4.1Ghz) with Radeon graphics, 16GB DDR4-3200 memory, 512 NVME SSD

Thanks for the advice!

I'll up the PSU to 750

Regarding the 5600x vs the 5800x, why should I choose one or the other. (also, fyi, budget always permits. Hahaha)

For the AIO, what are the name brands that I should consider?

5600x has 6 cores and 12 threads, and 5800x has 8 cores and 16 threads. Since you will be streaming and gaming I would recommend the 5800x; you could use 8 cores for multitasking.

AIO brands I would consider are: be quiet!, Corsair, NZXT, Cooler Master and Deepcool, and maybe Thermaltake.

In order

1. NZXT

2. Corsair

3. Cooler Master

4. Deepcool

5. Be quiet!

Any other questions/thoughts/concerns about this build? Also, a 6800xt in your area is $100 more than what a 6900xt should be. Are you sure you want to spend big money on a graphics card that is highly inflated?

Well, everything is inflated. So... I've got no choice? Hahaha. Either pull the trigger now, or wait until next year and postpone my streaming intentions. But good point. That's something to ponder.

Also what do you think about the laptop for my wife's graphic design work?
Ryzen 4800U, Vega 8, 16GB. Or should she just go with an M1 Macbook Pro?

I honestly dont know if graphic design is CPU bound or GPU bound. If it is CPU bound, then you are good to go for the Ryzen laptop. If GPU bound, I would try to get a 30-series laptop. If memory bound, 16 gb is fine.

I have a similar laptop to you that I use for school and light gaming, except mine is a 4700u and Vega 7 graphics.
