Blocking Kids Youtube during School

I'm hoping someone here can help, as I am not getting answers online, as well as from the people who should help.

My kids have to have school online using google classroom.  I have bought a chrome book for them to use, to attend class online.  Unfortunately, the google account is under the school's control, making it difficult to manage.  The school has blocked youtube, but you just dont log into your google account on youtube, and you can access youtube.

My kid isn't brilliant, but its made too easily to access youtube.  Probably any simple block will do for now.  I do plan to block everything during school hours once i get around to it through the router, but looking online, blocking youtube through the router apparently blocks google classroom too...

If anyone has a way to block youtube on a chromebook, that is logged into a school account, which has limited ability to change settings, such as installing extensions and such, please help...  I can only parent so much with me going to work, and kids staying home with grandparents for school.  My parents aren't great with watching them for what they do on their computers.  thanks in advance!

You should be able to block YouTube and set downtime’s with an admin account

should be able to do a network level block for YT during a limited time but most consumer routers won't support that. I know lots will allow you to say kick all but these devices from wifi at 10 every night till 5am

it could be getting google classroom with the YT block if google classroom uses YT for videos or if the filter isn't limited enough

you should use the BlockSite extension, as it blocks specific sites for a set period of time (you can customize it) and it also blocks users from acessing the extensions part of google chrome.

cant, because your admin account cannot control an account that is under the school's administration

not sure why, but others have blocked it on the network side, but resulted in blocking the full access of google classroom.  i plan to try this out still, but it seems there were lots of complaints on this.

unfortunately, you cant.  The school administrator that manages the students account does not allow you to download and install extensions.
