NCIX: N/A

Amazon: http://georiot.co/2cwm

We've never looked at a home & small office security system before, so this was a bit of a new adventure for us. I don't know how great it is compared to the competition, but it seems like a pretty good value for what we paid and we're definitely going to be using it.

Wow that's scary.

I really wish I could take credit... But I believe @Nineshadow is the boss who made it

That thread got really weird. (and it was pretty damn weird from the start)

For the price I personally would have picket up a few CCTV / IP cameras and run one one of the open source programs for Linux but I like to overkill everything (not a bad thing in this case considering your pretty much protecting your life work).

I want to know that guy in your pictures real face. I feel like it would be dirty.

Holy balls this is off-topic. Once the vid is up I will post something relating to my opinion on the product...

But for now, I believe this is the original (reverse image search)

Linus, you told that there was issue on the dropbox? Yeah might check some settings but your email settings were way off. You have not set up an email server. Google has the following

SMTP Server: smtp.gmail.com

User and pass: Google user name (i.e linustechtips@gmail.com)

Port: 465

@LinusTech Just a though but if i took a screen capture of the QR code and ran it through the app.  could the internet be watching you at work then?  I'm hoping there some sort of additional log in.   other than the QR code or you can change it.

Its looks like a functional product, still a bit costly.  I sort of surprised you did not go PC with it.  there lots of open source stuff (software)  out there about turning a pc and some IP or usb cameras in to similar system.

I suppose the down side is getting good night vision and the fact you don't need to do anything out of the box other than plug it in.

Yeah, totally not creepy keeping a literal eye on your employees 24/7, that's actually more oversight than I had in the call centre I worked at O-o

I mean keeping an eye on equipment is totally something you should do but does Shifty really need a camera in his face? Surely you'd know if he was working by the fact that his work gets one?

Maybe I'm just weird about that <-<

Im pretty sure Linus was just testing the cameras on them while doing the review. Why would he show the real reason he need it for? Thats all part about security! haha

Wish there was an option to not only do backups, but to record directly over the network to an iSCSI target, NFS or CIFS share.

I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason and intellect has intended us to forgo their use, and by some other means to give us knowledge which we can attain by them. - Galileo Galilei
