Why are there not any PGA latching "mechanisms" like intel has?

Go to solution Solved by freeagent,

All good my man. I still have my last three Intel systems 😜

I've been offered free AMD systems in the past, and that was a hard pass for me.

Honestly, this time I just wanted something different, and it just so happened AMD was kicking Intels butt again.. bout time..

I just wanted to see what they hype was about.. turns out they made a good product 🤘

You haven't really lived until you have ripped a CPU out of its socket.

Its up there with getting hair in funny places.

Meh, my buddy Luke had an entire finger nail ripped off from one of those legacy Tornado fans. 90mm. Took the nail clean off. I seent  it with my own eyes.

Now thats being made aware you're still alive. Pulling a cpu from te socket isn't jack shit. It's not a new feature to the design socket, and just been a conversational piece all these years. It's just more people build now, so there's just more complaints about it today rather than 20 years ago.

Guys:
Simply pulling the cooler up and having the CPU come with it does no damage to anything, it's what happens afterwards if you don't know how to deal with it that does the damage.

I believe I've already posted something in another thread about it.

Since I had already explained it in some detail I didn't see any sense in retyping it all again.

I can see my CPU with the cooler on - Cooling - Linus Tech Tips

Some of what I posted is about an older cooler in that thread but the basics about the subject here is still there and applies.

Well I guess was right in the end! Got what I wanted! (This year is the BEST! But can't be too happy until they really launch it.)
