How important is it to have wifi on the motherboard/ what does the wifi do/ why might I need it?

wireless internet. if you have decent wifi and dont want to connect an cable for internet, i'd say get wifi. If you dont have wifi on your mobo you can always get a wifi expansion card later on.

Mostly useless in desktops, place your PC near to the modem and connect with a CAT6 cable, this is the way you can get smallest latency.

if you can’t use a cable because of location of modem (or sth like that) you can get a USB Wi Fi device or use your  motherboards Wi Fi device.

As i said it is useless for me, if you can get a Wi Fi device+motherboard cheaper than motherboard with integrated  Wi Fi i will buy the cheap one.

As a tradition i will say sorry for my bad English :D.

 

Starcraft 1 still best game.

I find it useful in case my wired Internet goes out I have another option and I'm not in completely in the dark. It's more of a nice to have, but not really necessary if you have the opportunity to use a wired connection. But like I said, I use it as a what-if-just-in-case.

Wifi = internet without cable, at the cost of worrying about signal strength and less stable connection. Useful if the system is in somewhere hard for a cable to reach, useless if routing an extra cable is fine.

Personally i don't care about WiFi, but afaik it comes with bluetooth most of the time. I like to connect my phone with bluetooth so incoming calls go right to my headset.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.
