Report user profiles

WhitetailAni

I noticed the "All Activity" tab on the bar thingy at the top, and clicked on it.

I saw an account "Escorts in Pakistan" was created.

I went to look at it, and sure enough, it was a bot account.

So I posted on their account and tagged @wkdpaul since he's online.

However, could there be a way to report accounts, similar to status updates, thread posts, and thread replies?

Kinda like this (this is imperfect, but it took me 2 minutes):

I've wondered about a feature like this, curious as to whether the current report system is either full enough or deemed sufficient enough not to add an extra report functionality

Perhaps add the feature that if you reported someone's post, you can't also report their profile? That way there aren't multiple reports ostensibly for the same thing. Also perhaps you can only report a profile once or once within a given period

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

This would be very good for targeting people who are racist or bot accounts to keep the forum clean and safe

Also for the anti racist, who are just as racist too. They are just as much as of problem as the racists they hate. Hate=hate regardless of your regardless of your reasoning.

That being sad a "report user account option" is rather normal on forums these days,Bots and spammers often try to stay under the radar my making accounts and PMing users and not openly posting. However PM'ing a online mod about the offending user account should work just fine IMO.

It's always kinda stumped me that the overlord mortis hasn't implemented something like this. I'm sure there's a reason behind it (probably), but it would be pretty stinkin nice.

The old forum software used to have this kind of feature. Yes, like normal reporting, it can be used for cyber-bullying purposes. This is why moderation is done by humans, not by bots like some bigger platforms do.

At the moment, to report pfp, signature or anything in profile, just report any activity done by member and elaborate the reason in report. Or if member has not posted anything yet, PM to any member of the staff and report the PM. Reporting is always best way to approach. Reports are confidential and since moderators are not on their devices all the time, it might take hours to ban spammers just because you chose the mod going offline rather than reporting it for all to see.

The technical reason behind this is that the software assumes that only Content can be reported, and breaking that assumption would break a lot of things, but members are not Content. The non-technical reason is that in almost all cases where someone wants to report a member, there is a more appropriate thing to report, with inappropriate profile information being the main exception.

I'm assuming the mod team would still take action if we just reported some random thread they'd made or something and explained in the notes that it was to do with their profile instead?

That's the advice given on another forum I'm on, which incidentally uses XenForo rather than Invision. IIRC XenForo does actually support reporting members too but it's not intuitive to do it at all. I think vBulletin might too though I'm not entirely sure.

Thanks for reading all this by the way!

By the way, my desktop is a docked laptop. Get over it, No seriously, I have an exterrnal monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, ethernet and cooling fans all connected. Using it feels no different to a desktop, it works for several hours if the power goes out, and disconnecting just a few cables gives me something I can take on the go. There's enough power for all games I play and it even copes with basic (and some not-so-basic) video editing. Give it a go - you might just love it.

Yes, for some reason I missed that. I must have skimmed past it without noticing

I guess you might as well delete the one I just made, then.
