6900 XT ideal junction temperature

redcan0

Hey everyone, My ASRock RX 6900 XT Phantom D arrived today. And I started overclocking it. I set the power limit to 325 watts which gave me a pretty nice headroom for overclocking. However, at this power I got a junction temp of 90-95 in 3D Mark. Whereas in stock configuration junction temp was sitting at 80-85. Will 90-95 junction temp cause an issue in the lıng term? I know AMD says up to 110 is fine and all but 95 still is very hot. Should I lower the power a little bit? I would appreciate any advice.

Thanks

There's your answer. Up to 110C junction temps are within AMD spec. As for whether that's ideal for you or not, I can't really say. The card won't burn up as that temp is within safe limits, but you are pushing higher clocks than spec so it's kinda up to what you're comfortable with. Same as how Intel's spec for CPUs allows up to 95-100C, but I'm really not comfortable with my CPU regularly being over 85C.

That makes sense. Ill try and lower the power a bit and see what happens then.

Best keep it under 100C for long-term use.

You can always adjust your fan curve to a more aggressive one, I did so with mine. Have voltage at 1115, and power slider to 10, but have upped my fan curve. I don't care about fan noise as my soundbar is blasting away in front of me, I'm more concerned about temps, my Junction temp is around 85C after at least 30 mins of Metro Exodus.
