Lubing keyboard without switch holder?

pinkmonsterenergy

So I've been thinking about lubricating my keyboard switches, but don't have enough money currently to afford a holder for the switches. Is there a way to lube the switches without one?

A lubing station isn't strictly necessary to lube your switches up with. More of a convenience thing.

Plenty of others have lubed switches without the station, it's perfectly doable:

I'd simply advise to keep the lubing area clean and clutter-free. 👍

As a side note, if a switch opener tool (e.g. KBDfans x ai03 2 in 1 Aluminum Switch Opener) is not available, a pocket knife will work just fine (Mini-Tutorial?). Just be careful with the sharp edge. 😉
