Trying to buy 3060

tire

Should I buy try to buy the 3060 tomorrow? Or should I just wait.

I currently have a 1650 and play some not very demanding games.

Would it be worth it to try to buy it, or should I wait for benchmarks and stock to come.

I need opinions.

Based on how the 3000 series has performed so far, I'd say you probably don't need to wait for benchmarks.

If you can get one, get one. Worst case, if you're not happy with the performance, you won't have a hard time selling it for the same price you bought it for.

I don't agree, that's one more card, even if it's just a 1650, back in the market right

The 1650 is... below decent, so if you have access to a 3060 for a fairly reasonable price, then sure go for it.

Unpopular opinion incoming (even though I'm late to the game). Buy one now and immediately resell it for a large profit. Save the funds to buy another one when prices come down from outerspace and spend your profits on a new monitor.

Okay well if you had a chance to get one by winning what amounted to an internet lottery today -- in a window of time that appears to have been open all of ~two minutes earlier? Then you did.

So either you bought one -- and that's that. Or you didn't -- and the sad truth is? That's that, too.

If you aren't paying a scalper's price? There are no 3060 cards to buy. That's the sad reality.

Gamers have been thrown under the bus to Ethereum cryptominers by nVidia. And nVidia was quite content to throw computer retailers under the bus, too.

I tried to buy one at the launch (5pm UK time), but I literally missed a card by about 20 seconds because the webpage was slow to launch. Any stock was sold out within about two minutes.

I don't expect any supply to be available within the next month or so, so I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Yours faithfully,

Next month? You are an optimist, aren't you?

I expect the best that vast majority of us can hope for is 4th quarter of 2021 -- and more likely? A year from now.

Very likely, yes.

Considering the silicon shortage has hit car manufacturers, who don't exactly use the latest cutting edge stuff...who knows how long it could last.

Currently have bets for if I'll get a vaccine or GPU first. Most people are betting on the vaccine lol...

I'm in Canada and I do not expect to get vaccinated until September or the first half of October. Vaccine is more likely before GPU, but there is a realistic chance, however small, of snagging a card on a restock. There is no "notify me" option for a vaccine!

I think it depends what group you're in.

I'm in the UK, so they're saying all adults are going to be vaccinated by the 31st of July. Although we'll see if they live up to that.

I don't know how RTX 30 series supplies are over in Canada compared to the UK, but I'm sure we're probably getting an even more paltry offering than the US lol.

Currently last-gen GPUs are as, or more expensive, than they were new. The lack of new cards is clearly leading to a decrease in people selling (due to not being able to buy new cards) and an increase in people buying (due to not being able to buy new cards). Plus the pandemic is supposedly decreasing supply in TSMCland, while also increasing demand here, because real life has been #cancelled

He doesn’t buy at launch, that’s the problem
