SSH over Port Forward | Please Help

TheCoder2019

I have a Linux machine that I need to run commands on. I have 19132 open for Minecraft, when I try to SSH through it, I can’t connect. Any ideas how to get this to work? If there is can you answer?

Well than its no surprise you cant SSH into your RPI then. You need to have a separate port for your minecraft server and your SSH connection.

You would need to open a port specific to SSH. I would absolutelly recommend AGAINST doing it though, as it's imensely dangerous to open such service to the web directly.
Try to setup a VPN to your network and use SSH trough it.

Is there a .config file to change the port SSH runs on?

@Orthusaku

You will need to open another port on the box by default this is port 22 for SSH, and have SSH server running. If you are using the raspbian distro of linux on your PI this guide should help you: https://phoenixnap.com/kb/enable-ssh-raspberry-pi

You can edit the sshd_config file to change the port, but you will still need two separate ports one for minecraft and one for ssh.

It will change on the SSH service provider. I'm not aware of configs specific to minecraft servers, but my advice still applies. Do not open it to the web, do it via VPN or remote access.

You dont seem to understand the fact that you need to have TWO separate ports forwarded in order to have access to both your minecraft server and ssh into your RPI. You can always edit your ssh port but in your case its gonna fix what you are trying to do.

Okay, so if I may ask a few questions to help understand the exact situation, and what is going on and where the exact problem is located.

How do you access the PI when you set it up?

Can you access SSH when you are on the same network?

Are you trying to access SSH while on a remote network?

Have you opened and port forwarded ssh port to the PI on the router to allow remote networks to ssh?

So this looks like your router is not configured to allow you access to the pi while on a remote network. You can not use the -p unless you have already configured the router to forward traffic from a different port to the pi and configured the pi to accept ssh request over that port.

You will either need to setup a port forward to allow remote ssh, or if possible setup a vpn server on your router/network and use vpn creds on your laptop or remote device to log into your network so you don't have to expose ssh to the public internet.

See my edit, I linked to the wrong guide.

Nah, it should work by importing the cert to the server which the server uses to check clients. Not sure if an iPad can connect to a VPN or not though.
