Should i upgrade r5 3600 to 5600x or 5800x ?

Hey guys, year and half ago i upgraded from i7 2600k and z77 board, to x570 aorus elite with r5 3600. It worked perfectly with GTX 1080 TI, however i upgraded to RTX 3080 recently and i have 3440x1440p monitor. There is still some games like far cry 5 , metro exodus where gpu can give more but cpu't can't produce more. I don't play at max settings i aim for higher fps with great visuals considering my monitor. I can sell my 3600 instantly for 150eur, i think it's fair price. However 5600x cost 369eur and 5800x cost 480eur, there was in stock 5900x at some point and price was 680eur now next batch will cost 800eur. Being in Europe you pay a lot... Should i hold my money and just wait ?

IMO i would save your mons and hold out the best you can, Eventually... No idea when... But things will go back to normal at least for the most part, But that is 100% up to you.

I would not swap it. And the tables have turned now as 10600kf is only 190€ and barely faster 5600X costs a premium of 100-150€.

I have no idea about European pricings going up or down. But I think, upgrading from a 3600 to a 5600x is not a good value. Going to a 5800x would be much more sensible, especially with your 3080. And in any case, hold out till the prices get standard.

I'd wait for the next gen tbh. Just increase resolution scale a bit to get crisper visuals for now. This is exactly what I'm doing on my 8700k in the (rare) situations where I am CPU limited at 1440p.

 

Or, just enjoy cooler/quieter GPU operation.

Intel is more affordable now, but selling x570 and 3600 as set doesn't make sense, I buy stuff constantly from aliexpress, for 300eur you can get i9 10900k ES version from trusted real seller and it clock to 5ghz no problem, so it's cheaper than 5600x. Only problem i don't have intel platform. But intel is better value for sure.

seen this bro, in the beginning Steve showed charts 11 games FHD with 3090, 3600 is around 25-30% slower than 5600x, 3090 isn't that much faster than 3080, so difference is considerable. I have money, but i would overpay now. If 5600x cost 300eur here instead of 369 that wouldn't be bad value, but even if i sell 3600 for 150eur and i could get 5600x for 300eur it's stil 2x the price for 25-30% of performance. I wish they release 5600 non x for 250 price tag at somepoint or 5700 for 330eur because 5800x wasn't good value to begin with even at MSRP

yeah in fhd. you have a uwqhd monitor, which is half way between qhd and 4k in terms of pixel count. so look for those charts. at 1440p, the difference is around 5% and at 4k is 0%.

I'd keep the 3600 for now, I'd only upgrade to an 8 core (so the 5800X or if they ever release a 5700), and only at a price below 400 euros.

Not worth it imo. You don't gain enough for the cost to be worth it. You'd be better off either saving up for a more substantial CPU upgrade, or for completely different upgrade parts like a new GPU, a better cooler, new/better/RGBier RAM etc.
