I'd recommend a different topic, the paper is an argument of opinions

there is a purpose for both

Speech was already approved and im supposed to be convincing people to buy Windows rather than MACs so im basically just seeing one point of view what they think doesnt really matter

I'm confused, are you actually asking for people to SEND you computers to use or just to look at specs lists?

Just the specs list lol

How about

$ 2.349 - Dell XPS 15 - 2014

vs

$ 2.599 Macbook Pro 15" Retina

They are quite close in terms of specs. IMHO the Macbook Pro is still worth the additional $ 250 (full aluminium body, faster ssd, thunderbolt, OS X, Iris Pro)

Actually I wouldn't advocate a PC because of windows, I'd advocate a PC over a Mac in spite of having to deal with Windows. When you get right down to it OS X is a technically superior OS locked behind proprietary bullshit. Windows does the exact same shit only they have decades worth of third party support due to inertia. When it comes right down to it the superior feature of the PC platform should be the scalability and versatility of the PC, not the OS.

If anything now you can make a better case for the future of the PC by showcasing Linux and Steam OS as healthier alternatives to both proprietary operating systems with the PC having the added advantage of better and cheaper hardware options than Apple's lock in hardware choices.

You can talk about the price and performance differences between PC and Apple options. You can also mention how using Apple products has somewhat become a fashion status symbol.

GUYS I HAVE TO GIVE THE SPEECH TO A BUNCH OF COLLEGE STUDENTS WHO DONT KNOW SHIT ABOUT COMPUTERS. Linux is something they have probably never even heard of :P.

For anybody that wants to know my main points so far I have

I talk about how OS X can get malware viruses etc... just as easy as a Windows computer could

More expensive to repair (found an article talking about all the special tools you need just to take their AIO desktops apart)

I need a third point... was thinking about talking about how their laptops are pretty much non user upgrade-able but im not really sure if that is entirely true and google isnt being much help

on fact or opinion?

it's like arguging orange juice is better than apple juice for X reasons

well he is going to give bias facts so i guess you can say a bit of both.

there is nothing wrong with what he wants to do. Orange juice can have different health benefits than apple juice, and im sure someone can argue that one is better than another.

i keep trying to find a way to make u understand in my head but i really dont think i can convince u either way. arguments dont have to be negative either, they just tend to be cause humans are naturally assholes :P

I don't mean the particular aspects of either, I'm talking about the taste.

You won't convince someone to prefer apple juice because you like the taste of it and they like the taste of orange juice.

this is essentially the same assuming they have a reason or preference to pick one or the other beyond marketing and fads.

It's not really going to convince anyone and is just going to be verbal masturbation for the presenter and those in agreement. In my opinion an argument should be based on proposed fact and disproved facts. The method is the same for the opposing argument with respect to the previous.

When you tell me apple juice tastes better, you're not really getting anywhere. With regards to a full understanding of both products and as little bias as possible, this is nothing more than a comparison. There's no argument here.

Exactly. Why does this topic even exist? I find the underlying idea for this "speech" very problematic.

Same way if it would be the other way around, just sayin'

 I would compare the most top end model and maybe an MSI gaming laptop that cost's $2500 also?

Why? MSi gaming laptops are gigantic and anyone contemplating a Macbook would likely want nothing to do with one. You'd be best off comparing it to another ultra portable laptop. Keeping in mind that cheaper prices may also mean getting a plastic chassis instead of aluminum and lesser battery life.

I like this community. People actually use their brainz.

There are tons of communities out there who use their "brains". It isn't just unique to us. o.0
