Upgrades and bottlenecks

Budget (including currency): 1000$

Country: United states

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: beamng Minecraft (with shaders and texture pack) and other games

So I built this machine a while ago when the i7 7700k 7th generation was really good I wanted to upgrade my graphics card which is a msi GeForce gtx 1050ti to something more powerful I don’t want to bottleneck my cpu and I know that my graphics card is a bottle neck because under heavy load my graphics card gets the hottest and my cpu is just warm to the touch

Oh and I was planning on changing the power supply to something more powerful like a 750w

You could upgrade to something like a 1660 ti, or something like a 2060 super, without bottlenecking your CPU. Any better GPU and I think you will run into more CPU bottlenecks (even though I don't have a ton of exp under my belt atm), leaving GPU performance on the table. You could eventually upgrade your CPU and motherboard for a much better experience though.

A GTX 1650 would probably be as good an option as any. It'll be a 25-40% improvement over the 1050Ti. Alternatively, if you're after more vRAM, a used 1060 6GB, or maybe a newer 1660, but those 6GB cards might not see their full potential with that CPU.

IMHO, a 1650 super would be better than the 1650 but overall I agree witchu, but iirc, the 2060 super will only produce a 7% bottleneck at 1080p (although it can vary depending on other factors of which I'm no expert), so the cards below it should be even better when it comes to bottleneck, i.e. less of a bottleneck.

Overall, the OP should be good with anything ranging from a 1650 super to a 1660 ti.

What is your current power supply? What is your monitor? 1080p 60hz monitor? A GTX 1650 Super will lock 60fps in beamng at high settings and lock 60fps in minecraft java edition with shaders and render at 16 chunks. There are stock issues with GPUs right now though.

The gpu market has major shortages right now so buying is tough because things are out of stock or prices are inflated. Check the used market in your area for a gtx1070 or better or an rtx2060 or better. Then get a better power supply. The games you play arent very demanding graphically but if you get a 1070 or 2060 it will allow you to play games like warzone or something else you may be interested in at high settings with a steady 75fps. If you dont want to go used you should try to get a new 1650 super or 1660 super. I don't want to recommend anything higher since the games you play dont really need a high end gpu.
