A 770 can do 1440p right now for the most part, not amazingly but it can :P

I suspect it'll be maybe.. inbetween 770 and 780 performance, while drawing a bit less power.

Noway to be 100% sure til it's released though.

The GTX 770's performance in 1440p right now leaves a lot to be desired for me. It just doesn't make my cut.

I should be studying.

I want ultra with maybe 2x AA. I want above 60FPS. Its all about G-Sync.

Gsync ?

Gsync doesnt require 60+ fps

its made for smooth gameplay for sub 60

But if I get a G sync monitor that has a refresh rate of 144 or 120hz i can still benefit from Gsync. In games that I can run higher FPS and at lower varying FPS.

I should be studying.

There are trade offs for everything I guess. If they made an IPS 1440p G-sync monitor, I would buy it in a heartbeat. Especially if it was 24". I want a 1440p 24" so bad :(

I should be studying.

Going by previous generations the 870 should preform around a 780 which is good but not amazing for 1440p. probably wont get 60+ fps on demanding games with max AA. I think you need like SLI 780 Ti to get good frames on crysis 3 max 1440p with 8x AA. If Nvidia lowers power consumption enough on high end maxwell cards, ill probably SLI gtx 860s or 870s and get a 1440p Monitor. Until then ill stick to 1080p gaming lol.

I heard the GTX 860M is almost twice as fast as a GTX 660M and that it was faster then the GTX 770M if these are true then I believe a 870 can run 1440p quite well IMO.

Edit: Derp didn't realise the performance of a GTX 770M is compared to a desktop 650 Ti Boost or a R7 260X my bad, not sure about an 870 running 1440p now ._. sorry buddy!

Anyone think that the GTX 870 will be enough for 1440p? I heard rumours that its will have 3gb of Vram and the 880 will have 4gb. Its all specualtion and runours, but what do you guys think?

the "70" version of the card usually has a regular and a larger vram choice. I have a 4gb 670 which runs 1440p just fine. Theres also a 4gb version of the 770 so id expect them to have a similar set up with the 870

With 1440p you don't need much AA, 2XMSAA or FXAA or SMAA1X is enough. Going 8XMSAA on 1440p is kind of a dumb option... You won't really see any difference and the performance penalty is huge.

I am going to assume the GTX 870 will be like a GTX 780 with a 1100-1200Mhz OC. if you are looking for 120FPS+ you are going to need two of them with current heavy hitting current games, never mind future games.

Actually, it's made for smooth gameplay at any FPS.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

Not below 30FPS - Even 30-40 FPS isn't entirely smooth.

Agreed. I will say after using Dynamic vsync with AMD cards and using Adaptive vsync with Nvidia cards that it really does help with judder and tearing, but you still have input lag. I run my monitor @ 96Hz so I game without any type of vsync and never experience tearing or mouse input lag when playing current demanding games, but you can still feel it when the FPS drop, which is why one day I will upgrade.

i heard about those but havnt had a chance to try those since i have a 570 :|

personally i never experienced input lag with vsync

maybe because im used to the high response time on my 30 inch dell lcd

It's a little overblown really. Most games I don't notice it too much, but it got a bad rep in source games. Fire up left4dead 2 and enable vsync, then disable it. It's pretty noticeable in that game.

I loved my 570 :D  I gave it too a friend of mine and he loves it, it's a great card and still relevant.

I'm hoping a 860ti comes along that fits my budget and performance expectations :P, if it's anything like 660ti in performance compared to last generation Fermi cards at the time (580) it was a good value.

I hope it's 2048 CUDA cores, 4GB GDDR5 @ 7GHz, 1030 base/1130 boost then around 150-160W.

I'd be sold :P

If there's a god in heaven, he can proove his existance to me, by shitting into nvidia's head a bit more, so they FINALLY get the drift, that we want more bloody VRAM! 3 gb isn't gonna cut it. AMD does such a great job of understanding our needs, why does it take the green team so long to put more vram on their cards??? I want 4 gb of vram, no higher tier model, no lower tier model! Just 4 gigs! Nvidia, make it happen!

Rant over!

who cares...
