Constant reboot with specific CPU, Bios Flash does not help

Go to solution Solved by PepeUYB,

I actually got it to post after the fourth flashback on version 2.60 馃憤

Now just struggling with updating windows

but I鈥檒l make a fresh topic!

Hello everyone!

Just recently built a system with a 5800x and a Asrock Ph-Gaming聽itx tb3.

The system kept rebooting after 20 seconds聽so I thought that the seller just didnt flash the Bios.

I then ordered a 3700x off of Amazon (yay Return policies!), was able to get to get it to post but after trying version 2.80 and then 2.60 It still didnt post with my newer CPU.

The upgrade itself showed no error codes or anything.

I checked for any loose ram, gpu or cpu afterwards but nothing.

I麓m in desperate need of help haven麓t been able to pown noobs for a while and I麓m about to run out of fingerstrength and thermal paste.

(Also can麓t buy a new motherboard, need this one because of the tb3 connection)

Thanks in advance

In that case the download probably didn't finish correctly or is otherwise damaged because I just downloaded the update just to test it and it actually聽is a .zip file. The file inside is called X57TB3_2.80 (so the file ending is the last two numbers of the firmware version). Maybe try re-downloading it.

Edit: Also, given the fact that the board boots fine with two different BIOS versions and the 3700X, who says that the issue is the motherboard? It might very well be a defective CPU.

You麓re completely right It could be the CPU, I just thought there麓s no way a brand spanking new CPU would not work. Also forgot to mention but it seems the 2.80 version corrupted my bios and even with the 3700x I couldn麓t reboot my system.聽

Maybe the main problem is that Macbooks dont recognize it as a zipfile? Tried unzipping it with no success.聽

Not too familiar with macbooks but I think it unzipped it on its own.

Thank you german brother

Yup, even brand new things can be defective (DOA; dead on arrival). Unfortunate but it can happen.

But that's how the file is supposed to look, so you did everything right I assume. What concerns me, though, is the fact that the 2.80 also made your other CPU not function, so it could be the board itself. Who knows.
