Permanent black screen after boot, help me please!

bragghy

Context: This PC (not mine) is a desktop Ryzen system with the integrated graphics card (G series chip), 16GB of RAM and 2 drives: an SSD and a hard drive. Windows 10 is installed. It was working normally before

Problem: when the PC posts (fan spinning and everything), after the initial AsRock motherboard message is displayed, there is nothing, total black screen, and after a while the monitor shuts down because it has no input. I tried getting into the boot menu and selecting to boot from Windows Boot Manager. The Windows logo briefly appeared, but then it was total black again. :(

I think it has something to do with boot / OS problems ....

Yank the boot drive, then turn the system back on, see if the display "no boot device" (or words to that effect) are displayed.

If so, then at least the mobo seems to be intact.

If you have access to another system works, install a LiveISO of Linux Mint onto a USB stick (it's quite straightforward) and boot from that, if it boots, then the Ryzen system's OS is borked, or the boot drive is failing

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.
