What is holding back this computer?

My friend and I put a computer together with used parts and we feel like there is a component holding it back.
We believe it is the CPU.

Motherboard: MSI 970A-G43

Holding it back in what way? What kind of performance you expect? You have a GPU from 2013 and a CPU from 2012 (and one that was bad in 2012 too).

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

Easiest upgrade would be RAM go to 16gb, Then SSD because its an overall huge performance boost. If you upgrade RAM and SSD then go for the best GPU you can buy, nothing less than an Nvidia 1060.
