what do you consider ''good battery life''

shouldervalley

I use my Nexus 7 2013 tablet in the morning when waking up, a few minutes during the day and before going to bed, it can last a day and a half - so I usually charge it every other night.

Pretty good, considering my phone can barely go for a day.

So many things I could write here... things like this.

Of the smartphones I've had (Original iPhone, iPhone 3GS, HTC Incredible, HTC Rezound, Galaxy SIII, Note II, iPhone 4S and now the iPhone 5S) the best phones for battery were the iPhone 5S and the Note II. Both the 5S and the Note II are able to last me multiple days, (The iPhone especially because of its low battery drainage with the screen off). The Rezound was the worst maybe achieving an hour and a half of screen on time at most with an extended battery being absolutely necessary (terrible for that particular phone because the Rezound was already one of the thickest and heaviest phones on the market. Really an all around terrible phone.

For tablets, I've had an iPad 3, Nexus 10, and now an iPad Air. Both iPads got around 12-13 hours of constant use while the Nexus 10 got around 5 or 6. Really the Nexus 10 was a let down in that regard (and several others).

For me I'm pleased with the battery life I get out of my iPad. I use it constantly in class to take notes (with external keyboard and stylus), to read lecture material, to read textbooks outside of class, and watch the odd video on youtube and browse the web and I can use it for upwards of a week without charging it. In the phone space however, there definitely needs to be more of a focus on increasing battery life. My iPhone lasts me two days usually, but I'm a very rigorous backpacker and can leave for a week or more at a time and like the satisfaction of knowing my iPhone (what I primarily use to take pictures with) will last.

The kind of battery life that I get from my iPad2 is the bare minimum that I expect to get out of a super expensive modern smartphone, so at least 8 to 10 hours of screen on time.

But let's look at the worst case scenario:

1 hour train ride to school/uni

12 hours at school/uni/the library - using it all the time. Viewing PDF files, looking up things on the internet, taking pictures (I used to photograph every single page from books that I didn't want to buy or otherwise would have had to return to the library within a week) and using voice recorder apps for at least 8 hours, so that you can listen to your lectures again, when you're prepairing for finals.

1 hour train ride back home

Even when you got back home, there should be at least 20% battery life left, so you can place an emergency phone call if needed.

That's what I consider good battery life. Make a phone that I can use like this for a week without having to charge it every night and I'll be your biggest fanboy.

I don't really play many games for gameplay anymore honestly. I play most games just for the graphics.

My HTC One has been on from the moment I got up 8am with about 8 hours screen on time, Plus data use and Wifi its around 20% when I'm home, not great but it gets me through the day I can watch the battery burn though the usage it goes through day to day.

I would say 1-2 days of usage (around 10-12 hours each day) with wifi on. My HTC 8S can last more than a day which is pretty good.
