so uhh, are there any waterblocks out there that let you leave the lid off?

every waterblock that I know of requires you to put new thermal paste on the cpu itself, and then put the lid back on, and then put more thermal paste on, and then the block. I've always thought that with some minor height adjustments a waterblock could be mounted without the IHS entirely.

This could be possible, I was using coollabratory ultra so its very thin metalic liquid. when I delidded the CPU, I applied it to the CPU directly, then to the top of the IHS. There are bare bone mounts available that go straight on the CPU, bit I've never seen them for a GPU.

But a gpu never has an ihs so it's not the same.
