3050Ti or 3070?

whm1974

Yes I know the 3050Ti is actually out yet or when the expected date is. But since I likely have gotten my Stimulus Check already due being on Disability(SSDI). I am planning on just upgrading my Graphics Card this Year. Yes I also plan on doing the same with my Current Rig. It is after all becoming Long in the Tooth so to speak.

I'll post that in the correct Subforum however.

Well, without further information, one can't really recommend anything. It depends on your current components (psu,cpu,...), budget, resolution, how long you want to use it etc.

Well I had to remove the 970 due to becoming unable to Play any games that require 3D Graphics. Even a few ones that don't. I reuse the 760 /w 4GB I built this Rig with. Good thing that I paid little extra for another 2GB of VRAM back then...

So I will be in the Market this Year for a new GPU, and if I can swing it, anew build as well.

Leaks and rumors have been pretty consistent that the RTX 3050 Ti will be a cut-down GA106, which it will share with the RTX 3060, just like the 3060 ti is a cut-down RTX 3070.

It will most likely be unveiled at the NVidia event in happening in a week. I would expect the 3060 to come in at $300, the 3050 ti at $250, and the 3050 (the only GA107 GPU) at $200.

There's something wrong with this... I can still run anything at 1080p low-medium, and I have a GTX 960

I play games @2500x1600p. Sorry I forgot to mention that. If I was only @1080p I wouldn't have upgraded to the 970 to begin with.

Is it just me, or have prices of Videos gotten out of hand? Before the Corvid-19 that is.

Even at 2500x1600... Are you making the mistake of trying to run shit on 'ultra' settings? Medium ASAP, literally no visual difference, 2-3x the framerate. Also, update your drivers

I'm using Linux and I do also have Windows installed, so I recently did update the NVIDIA Drivers there.

BTW with the games I currently have, I really don't need a newer card. Some games did have noticeable improvement with the 970.

Didn't that came out ~$200 and quickly dropped to ~$150? And until recent events ~$100 or so?

What Vram will the 3050 ti most likely have? also what will it be equivalent too from last generation?

As long as it is a noticeable improvement over the 1050 Ti, then who cares? Of course as in enough increase in Performance for those who now have a 1050 Ti or even a 1060 to want to upgrade.

True, I have a gtx 1050 non ti, thinking of upgrading, but want something atleast equivalent to a 2060

A 3050 Ti may meet or even be better then the 2060. We well have to the Applications/Games Benchmarks.

That's what I'm hoping, but anything better than a 1050 is good enough for me lol, I might just spend a bit more and go with the rumuored 3060 (non ti)

That was what, back in the middle if 2014? Still that was even better.

$150, although it dropped fast. Perhaps a better example is the 1050, at $109.

I'm extremely hopeful for a $150 RTX 3050, but it probably won't happen

6GB. Expect 4 on the 3050 Ti. Also expecting 2304 cores on the 3050, 3584 on the 3050 ti.

In new games, a 970 isn't going to really even handle 1080p low anymore - but we need to know your CPU and PSU to make a decent recommendation.

I'll think I'll pass on the 3050Ti then. I'll save up and get a 3070 /w 8GB then.

You're in a bit of a bind - the 4670 is going to be a pretty hefty bottleneck for many of the newer cards, especially in games that are heavy CPU.

All GPUs right now are overpriced. A couple months ago a 5600XT for $269 would have been the perfect choice, but sadly those are all gone now.

I'm planning on saving up the money this year to build a nice new Rig. Since I manage to quit drinking Diet Mt Dew and eat mostly at home. I should be able to do this.

Is the 970 broken or something? Because if its functioning properly, it should perform better than the 760 even if it has only 3.5gb of VRAM.

You could turn down some texture resolution.
