Is my 850w PSU enough?

LavyDunois

Hello, first time posting here.

I have a question about my PSU.

I am currently running this rig:

CPU: i7 4930K @ stock (at the moment)

CPU Cooler: Corsair H110

Mobo: MSI X79A GD45 plus

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16gb (2 * 8) @ 1600mhz CL10

SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 250gb

HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2tb 7200RPM

GPU: Asus GTX780 DirectCU II oc

PSU: Cooler Master v850 Vanguard Series (850w Cert: 80+ Gold but is ranked tier 1 in the eggXpert tier list)

Case: Cooler Master Cosmos SE Closed Mesh

Will i be able to upgrade my rig with that PSU to:

* CPU: i7 4930K @ OC 4.1 / 4.2 ghz

CPU Cooler: Corsair H110

Mobo: MSI X79A GD45 plus

* RAM: Corsair Vengeance 64gb (8 * 8) @ 1600mhz CL10 (not that i would do this but just curious if the PSU can handle it)

* SSD: 2 * Samsung 840 EVO 250gb (RAID 0)

HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2tb 7200RPM

* GPU: 2* Asus GTX780 DirectCU II oc (2 WAY SLI)

PSU: Cooler Master v850 Vanguard Series (850w Cert: 80+ Gold but is ranked tier 1 in the eggXpert tier list)

Case: Cooler Master Cosmos SE Closed Mesh

Wanting to atleast upgrade (by the end of the year) with another GPU, SSD, 2 more sticks of RAM (so i can benefit of the quad channel) and the small OC on the CPU.

So will that PSU run it?

You should be fine. If you want to be safe though, get 1000w

Total the system would consume 630 Watts, there's no need.

Great, i tried doing that setup in that calculator thingy and it showed me about ~870w. Kinda got me scared and i didn't want to buy a 1000w PSU because the system is like 6 weeks old.

Good to know it'l work just fine. :)

Ya,  def go for the 850.  maybe even a 900 if you can find one for all those upgrades but I like the single rail PSU.  on the calculator I'd usually add 20% capacitor aging as well.  the calculator doesn't lie!

Psu calculators for the most part are highly inaccurate.

4930k Max TDP of 130W + Approx. Extra 60W for OC = 190W

GTX 780 Max TDP of 250W x2 = 500W

Extra 10 %

Total= 759 Watts

Overclock is approx so it may vary a but but with a 850W PSU you should be still good with something like that.
