4x DIMM slots does not mean Quad-Channel.

Dual-Channel / Triple-Channel / Quad-Channel does not depend on the number of DIMM / RAM slots.

It's how the Memory management is made within the CPU itself.

Ryzen motherboards with 2x DIMM slots, or 4x DIMM slots is still Dual-Channel.

For an example, the i7-6800K on X99 / LGA 2011-v3 platform (what I had before):

Hey if I were to get an upgrade of ram for my amd machine should I get 4x8gb or 2x16gb. Need ur wisdom.

Well, depends on your need and Budget. What`s more important than size is Memory Clock. 32GB Ram still does not run faster just because it says 32GB. If you pick a 2x16Gb 2333Mhz Kit, it will be slower than a 2x16GB 3200Mhz Kit. Keep it in mind. Your Mainboard is most likely Dual Channel as you have already been told by previous Posters. Remember, if you stick the Ram in the wrong slots, it might only run Single Channel. The manual shows which way supports dual channel.
