Is it yet possible to buy RTX 20xx Founder's Edition?

MigasTigas

Simple question. I've been wondering how can you get Founder's Edition GPU's and if there is still RTX 2060's brand new to buy. Also how rare are they and is it possible to buy it in, say 2-3 years from now?

Current Rig:

Mobo - MSI B450 Pro-Max VDH | CPU - Ryzen 5 3600 (AMD duh) | GPU - GTX 1660 Super (MSI) | WAM - 2 x 8GB 3200MHz (G.SKILLS Ripjaws)Storage - 1 x 256GB SSD (Crucial MX500) + 1 x 2TB | HDD 7200RPM (Seagate Barracuda) | PSU - Cooler Master 450W | Case - Cooler Master Q300L | Display - Asus VP248QG (Main) + AOC 24B1W1 | Other Stuff - Bloody B120 (Keyboard) + HP X220 Gaming Mouse + Asus A541UJ (Laptop)

The 2000 series has been discontinued, and they are not being produced anymore. You can find them on eBay, but they are overpriced right now.

GPU prices are super overinflated right now, so it's a pretty bad time to buy. But yes, they can be found on Ebay and from select sellers on Amazon.

They're decently uncommon (being discontinued, and all), but not particularly rare. As for 2-3 years from now, we can't predict the future. I'm sure that there'll be some number of them on the market at any point, but the real question is if they'll be ridiculously overpriced.

Main PC:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X • Noctua NH-D15 • MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk • 2x8GB G.skill Trident Z Neo 3600MHz CL16 • MSI VENTUS 3X GeForce RTX 3070 OC • Samsung 970 Evo 1TB • Samsung 860 Evo 1TB • Cosair iCUE 465X RGB • Corsair RMx 750W (White)

Peripherals/Other:

ASUS VG27AQ • G PRO K/DA • G502 Hero K/DA • G733 K/DA • G840 K/DA • Oculus Quest 2 • Nintendo Switch (Rev. 2)

Laptop (Dell XPS 13):

Intel Core i7-1195G7 • Intel Iris Xe Graphics • 16GB LPDDR4x 4267MHz • 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD • 13.4" OLED 3.5K InfinityEdge Display (3456x2160, 400nit, touch).

Got any questions about my system or peripherals? Feel free to tag me (@bellabichon) and I'll be happy to give you my two cents.

PSA: Posting a PCPartPicker list with no explanation isn't helpful for first-time builders :)

That's what I thought. On eBay is it reliable to get one brand new?

Yeah right now it's impossible to get a fair deal (i've checked a Zotac's that is being sold for over the double of the price, yikes) and also I wasn't thinking in buying one at the moment and not for at least for a year or so. So I hope they lower by then.

Don't buy right now.

Thinking in buying in about 2 to 3 years from now for a future build that might do (thinking too far ahead I know) but it was a question that was keeping me up all night ahah

In 2 to 3 years, RTX 2000 will be old and not really capable of raytracing. As Linus said on the Nvidia rant WAN show, "By the time a feature is widespread and mainstream, the first generation of hardware to support simply isn't powerful enough to use it in any meaningful way."

Still haven't seen that live, but thanks for the heads up! So probably, by this thinking, 3000 series in two years will be "more affordable" and a better buy than 2000's?

In 2023-2024?
Well, Nvidia will be on RTX 4000-RTX 6000 (unless they change it or something), so RTX 3000 will be what GTX 1000 is today(?)

True, by the time a whole generation or two have risen and it would be cheaper to buy a cheaper founders right?

I wonder if by the time there would be any 3000 FE though? Judging by the never ending black hole of "out of stock"

Stock should hopefully normalize a bit Q2-Q3 next year (hoping late Q1).

We'll see what the future holds, so in the future I'll go around and see if I can fetch one founders, or something equally nice
