First off, I am new here so please go easy on me. I have been watching LTT vids on YT for awhile now and thought that this would be a good place to come for a technical question or tower suggestion.

I currently use the Rosewill Thor V2 (Black) case and have used it for a long time, but awhile back I upgraded to RGB hardware and the case has no way to see it (no side panels etc). So I took to Amazon to find one specifically with Acrylic side panels. Yes, I know they can scratch, but still I'd feel more comfortable with acrylic than glass. The only problem is, every "high review" case (with acrylic side panels) I find has complaints of poor airflow.

So as far as specs go I have Gigabyte Aorus Z390 Pro Wifi MOBO and Gigabyte Aorus 2070 Super (the hardware took ages to save up for, as I have low income).

EDIT: I forgot to add, I'm running liquid cooling for my i9-9900k, I believe it is a corsair h-something (had it for awhile and i don't remember it's exact model) but it looks similar to H55, pretty sure it's 120 and not 240.

The Rosewill Thor V2 I have is a large case, I'd prefer something a bit smaller now so I can possibly place it on a small side table to be able to see the RGB. Probably a mid tower. The only few criteria are 1-it has an acrylic side panel, 2-it has front IO ports (preferably both mic and speaker audio ports and at least 2 USB ports (1 or more USB3+ ports), 3-it has good airflow, and 4-it isn't overly expensive (and 5-it fits my build... Lol). I did a bunch of research when looking but so many people complain of airflow.

Thanks so much for the help!

Hail

P.S. Linus and his group all seem so brilliant to me. I mean, I am not dumb, but at the same time I don't know everything of course. I learn a lot from the vids and it makes me happy to watch them. I just hope the forum is full of good people too 😊

Hi and welcome to the forum,
here is why airflow matters:
A CPU can run at max. performance until it hits 100 °C. So it is recommended to avoid 100 °C.
A GPU will boost it's clock speed when it is under it's thermal limit. So good cooling will support performance.
And the better your airflow the easier it is for fans to push and pull cool air through your case. So good airflow will make your system more quiet.

Most good cases use tempered glass nowadays because it is more scratch resistant.
But there is an older case from fractal design: the "Define C Window".
It has an old front I/O panel but it is just screwed in and you can try to replace it with fractal designs "Connect D1" for USB C, USB 3.1 Gen 2. The Connect D1 has no round corners while the Define C's front I/O has round corners... So you would have to round the corners... :(

The "Define S Window" has an acrylic window too and USB 3.0 in the front. But no USB C...

My question is why does that matter? First, I am not desperate, I just feel that there is no need for RGB in a build where it can't be seen, and thus it lead to side panels. Why acrylic over glass? That is my choice and preference.

I think, while tempered glass is more scratch resistant, acrylic windows are more flexible and won't break as easiely.

It's alright. With how society has been lately it just feels like everyone is so hostile lol. It's also 5am here and I can't sleep so I might be a little moody 😅 sorry lol

I have USBC on mobo and GFX card, so not too worried about it on front panel, though it WOULD be cool. I saw the Define S Window and it looked great but dang I don't see anywhere that sells it. I'm in the USA - east coast, and I wonder if location is a problem. 😅 I didn't even consider that tbh.

EDIT: I'm on mobile and I definitely RARELY use forums (a lot more in the past lol), I do know some have a "no double posts policy" so if that's the case, my apologies. I feel kind of flustered now tbh...

It actually does look pretty nice to be honest. I did forget to mention that I have 3 HDDs (a 1TB-movies, 2TB-games, and 6TB-video editing). But I wonder, does it have enough space for a HDD expansion slot? 😮 semi-rhetorical as I will be looking into it myself, but if you have input feel free to comment.

from memory (short of me pulling my side panel off) it has two built in HDD slots but it also has the psu cover at the bottom so your able to hide one away in there, it also has 2 2.5" slots aswell if your using ssd.

Thank you everyone who helped me out. I am hoping this works, but I purchased the Fractal Design Focus G and a 5.25 to 3.5 drive bay converter so that I can put a 3rd HDD in along with my 2 other HDDs and 1 SSD. It was tough, I was looking at the Cougar Panzer Max as well, but there was a huge price difference for me! ($165 USD down to $70) - I hope my experience with it is good as well, but we will see.

Thank you so much for your help! If anyone still decides to talk about more towers, feel free to, I would love to look into them :)

Hail
