Asus bios update stuck

I was looking around the bios for my asus z170a motherboard, as you do, and I saw an ez flash utility to download and flash the bios from the internet. I was psyched bc I’ve literally never updated my bios in the last 3-4 years and this seemed like an easy way to do it. I pressed ‘download’ and now it’s stuck. The mouse won’t move and the keyboard does nothing. The screen says ‘downloading, please wait’. I have gigabit internet so it shouldn’t take this long, I know that much. Is it safe to restart my computer or will that completely fuck it? Thanks in advance

It SHOULD be fine to reboot since it doesn't seem to have actually started the flash however its still a dangerous game, if you choose to do it you do so at your own risk.

That said, its not like you have any other option.

I agree, what choice do you have at this point? If it doesn't work, you can always load up a BIOS onto an external disk of some sort, plug that in, and update through that.

I also agree that BIOS updates with ASUS boards really sucks. I was loyal to Asus since my A7N8X days, but I gotta say I like how MSI does their BIOS. I hear ASRock's is pretty decent too.
