Quick download question

I was planning on downloading Team Fortress 2 tomorrow at my dad's, and I'm just curious: How long will it take to download at 3MB/s (or 30Mbps). The download is about 7.2GB.

1966.08 seconds = 32.7667 minutes

But,you probably aren't going to max out your connection,so probably around 40- 45 mins.

should not take too long i mean it took me about an 1 and a half or a little bit more and i am on a 1mb/s download speed on steam

7.2*1024=7372.8

7372.8/3=2457.6

2457.6/60=40.96

At peak speed it will take you about 41 minutes but since you won't always be at peak speed expect it to be between 45 minutes and a hour.

That was actually the usual speed. My max is about 3.5MB/s. :D So it probably will take about half an hour.

3MB/s is 24Mb/s

EDIT: Rely on the MB/s measurement, as that is my observed average.

Windows is lying to me!

Changing MB/s to Mb/s is just distinguishing bits from bytes. 8 Bits = 1 Byte

 

So, 24 Million Bits per second /8 (to turn it into bytes) = 3 Million Bytes per second

I have the slowest internet speed that you could get from at&t by request (2mbs) and I managed in less than an hour

My grandma only has 1.5Mbps (about 150KB/s) and it's terrible.
