Is a 700W 80+ Platinum PSU enough for a 3700X and 3080?

SFFDesigns

Hey guys!

I am in the process of downscaling my build from ATX to mITX in the NR200P, and I am considering the SX700-PT as a PSU. It is an 80+ Platinum unit. Is this enough for my 3080 FE and 3700X build with some headroom to spare?

I mean yes but the corsair sf 750 is available for 10 dollars more and 50 more watts at least in the US. I would personally just get that but if you really need 10 dollars then yeah the sx700-pt will do just fine.

Do you know where I could find one? I'd love to find one at MSRP but they are never in stock

Oh crap I didn't know these things were as rare as 3080 but yeah I don't know where to find them. You could try having the corsair notification thing on their website or looking on places like ebay if you don't mind used parts but a quick  look over their will tell you that  they all are being scalped. If you can't find one of these by the time you get all your other components I wouldn't bother and get the silverstone psu.

Yeah that's what I'm probably gonna do. It was hard enough getting my 3080 lol, im not terribly enthusiastic about doing that again 😂.

They are making an atx psu bracket for nr200p now after some modders stuffed matx boards and normal psu:s in.

Yeah ik, but it won't fit with the 3080 without going vertical, which would mean that I couldn't use the Wraith Prism due to it's height

I guess you might aswell buy an sfx psu then. I just did not realize Straight Power was that huge and that the spacing was so tight you can barely fit a 14cm Focus there.

Yeah I didn't realize it either.

I'll go for the 700W Silverstone 80+ Platinum or maybe something else. Does anyone know of any 750W or 800W SFX-L or SFX PSUs that are actually in stock?

Should I buy an SF750 for $30 above MSRP? Honestly might be worth it tbh

It's super hard to buy the SF750 as you guys know, and I've been unsuccessful at finding one.

I'm leaning towards buying the SX700-PT. @jonnyGURU do you know anything about this PSU? Is it good enough for an RTX 3080 FE (paired with a 3700X with PBO enabled)? If not is there any SFX PSU I should look to instead?

I bought it, spoke to someone who runs it with no issues with a 5900X and 3080 and will report back. It's a high quality unit and if it works well I'll buy custom cables for it. Definitely beats having to refresh for the SF750 for weeks so far (if it works well) lol

Little update lol. The SX700-PT arrived, and immediately after the SX750-PT launched on Amazon. I bought it and will return the SX700, seems to be a better PSU in many ways (it fixes the little annoying issues like fan noise of the SX700). Being at the recommended wattage definitely makes me feel better, even if it doesn't actually matter for my config
