IS RayT worth it ?

ImPeR98AtOr

Hey everybody

I want to start a little topic about RayTracing

We saw now what NVIDIA became with 3080/3090 and dlss 2.0 Ray tracing does not look the FPS killer any more

And in thé other hand we have AMD 6800xt with 16gb ram and better FPS in game's then 3080 not that much but still

With 16gb ram its plenty for vram hungry game

But fail badly at Rt performance

So what do you think IS RayT worth it ?

Or going for AMD and rock on with FPS and 16gb IS better ?

Its technology that I don't believe improves my enjoyment of a game, just ruins it.

Yeah honnestly i know what you feel

Back 2010-2015 i remember buying a component doesnt cost a kidney , nor does it let you think for months if its worth or not to change

I personally don't see any real benefits to it compared to how rendering is done before RT came available. In my eyes, it still looks just as good and unless your playing on a tiny monitor, you probably won't even notice.

My gripe is very little game support both RT and DLSS 2.0 right now and some didn't vastly improve graphical fidelity with those enabled.
As more games will support RDNA2 RT in the future, we might see some balance shifting towards RDNA2.

As for right now, I take 6800 performance, higher VRAM and lower power consumption over 3000 series ONLY IF the price is right. 8GB on 3070/3060 Ti is DOA for me.

The thing is, RX 6800 in Malaysia cost just as much as RTX 3080. I'll take 3080 anyday over 6800. What a fucking joke of a "release" AMD, good job.

They appear to know what gamers want, not what gamers don't want to see with new products (lower VRAM).
