How do I check what's preventing my screen from idling

Moonzy

what should I look for in event viewer? or command prompt?

i set my desktop to turn off the screen after 5 minute

it used to turn off just fine, but last few days it stopped doing it and stayed on

OS: win 10

command prompt, "powercfg -requests" to see what is keeping the PC awake and "powercfg -lastwake" to see what wakes the PC.

is geforce experience open on your desktop? it once confused me for a time, cause it's so subtle and it's not obvious that it keeps the PC awake

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

I do too, it's a pain in the ass when I forget to manually turn it back on for games.

was there an update at some point that disabled that? I could have sworn it used to automatically enable itself in game and disable itself when returning to the desktop.

I turned it off, screen still not idling

It's probably since a windows update, tbh

I also have this problem since a Windows update.

I've just been either logging out or RDPing from my phone when I walk away because it'll sleep if I do either of those things. Perhaps I'll stop being lazy and actually troubleshoot it today.

no, no update afaik. it's in privacy settings, you need do allow / disallow it to record your desktop.  if desktop recording is off it will automatically turn shadow play on for games (at least most of them, some obscure "windowed mode only" games won't be recognized)
