GT 710 2gb vs 1gb GDDR5

Filingo

Where will this difference be noticeable? the 1gb version is currently on a Black Friday deal for 28$ so I think about getting it over the 2gb version

(Paired with a C2Q Q8400 for HTPC machine)

For 710, get the cheapest, that card is only good for display, so doesn't matter how much the vram is.

Why you need it anyway? Your HTPC machine probably already have an integrated GPU.

the iGPU is so bad. It's a 13 year old machine that I just wanna bring to life for fun and use it on a 4K 55" TV.. the integrated GPU can't handle it I think (Didn't try yet, only plugged it to my 720p TV for now)\

You think it 1gb gddr5 gt 710 can handle a 4K 55" TV?

the onboard (literally, on motherboard) gpu cant handle 4K, i reckon

i tried running my C2Q rig's on board gpu for youtube and it sucked, even on 768p

adding an RX360/GTX970 made it decent

not sure how well gt710 fare, but it might do just fine?

idk if it can do 4k60 though, depending on HDMI revision?

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

well for 4k that gpu also doen't work well, only 24hz.

for that money probably better go get a used gtx 9xx.

Just saw that 1 review on Amazon said this card failed at a 4K TV 😅

I'm limited to 7.5A on the 12V rail and the CPU is already 65w TDP? I know it doesn't mean that it will actually draw the entire 65w. maybe I should get a 30w 1030 and take a risk of it not able to feed them both? Although I think 30+65 = 95w is just over the 90w of the 12v rail (12*7.5=90).. so close

most variants only have HDMI 1.4 that means 4K only at  30Hz

It can't ( even the new variants ( released in 2020 ) have HDMI 1.4

Yeah probably because most TV want 4k 30fps at least.

Well it's not what its intended to do, people buy these for super basic gpu.
