Hey guys,

For 4K ultra gaming - which gpu should I get ? 3090 6900xt or 6800xt?

I mean, depending on how quickly you want the card you may end up with only the 3090 as an option since it’s the only thing in stock anywhere I can find, if you could find one the 3080 or 6800xt are the better buys. 3090 is quite pricey for the marginal performance benefit

A 3080? Ultra settings are bs anyways as they are just adding bigger numbers that you won't see the benefit off. So basically make the game harder to run for next to no visual improvement. Also the 6900xt is supposed to be the 3090 competitor.

Btw don't spend double for a 3090 as the difference between a 3080 and 3090 is like 10-15% at most.

For 4k I recommend an ampere graphics card, they seem to scale a bit better with super high resolutions

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Hmm. great point about ultra settings. I wonder why they do that? Is that like a trend with games? Sounds stupid

I mean, a game can only look so good before you can't tell the difference. Mashing more and more pixels into a 2D texture can make the game exponentially harder to render, and slightly prettier

3080, the 3090 isn't worth the price increase just for gaming.

Of course, but many people want them for bragging rights anyway, doesn't matter if they would never be able to see a difference, it's why  cards like the 3090 are made after all.

I'd get a 3080. Ampere does better at 4K but there's no reason to buy a 3090/6900 XT, both seem like they are worse in terms of value compared to the 3080/6800 XT

So far, it would seem that GA102-based GPUs fare better at 4K in most scenarios. I believe this to be due to the faster GDDR6x and wider memory bus.

3080 for 4k. Or wait for the rumored 3080 Ti.
6800/6800XT is best for 1440p imo.

Get a 6800XT, and just overclock it a bit. At that point they're about the same. (3090 overclocks and 6800XT overclocks are about the same in most games)
