What's your Windows Experience Index score?

Dim

Hi guys,

All of us know that in actual use, the WEI is no more indicative of performance than a benchmark with outdated drivers.

However, it does provide a good general idea of the level of prestige in a person's machine.

And I find it kind of fun :P

A few other forums have this, but I think we should have it too--this is the only real software sub-forum and it's under the hardware forum, so it seems fitting to me.

Any enthusiasts out there with 9.9 WEI? I have seen no one above 8.9... (7.9 max for Windows 7, 9.9 max for Windows 8).

I will post a pic of mine once my WEI finishes refreshing.

Nice rig!

Should try OC'ing your 3930K; you should be able to get over 4.4GHz with that cooler and that should in theory get you 7.9 in Win7 and 8.1+ in Win8 (not to mention a drastic increase in performance!)

Of course it's possible it already is OC'd... Windows 7 just fails at benchmarking in general :P

Amazing how a 3930k doesn't reach 7.9 with WEI. :D Makes no sense haha.

It very well should.

Actually, I do remember seeing a post somewhere else (I think Windows 8 forums?) where a user had TWO i7 3960X CPUs both overclocked to 5GHz. I think he got a 9.0 or something in processor.

If two 3960X gets only a 9.0, it'll be ten years before a 9.9 score becomes viable for 1% of the population...

Indeed. But it makes me feel better about myself as a builder ;) and that's what matters at the end of the day, isn't it? Pure self-satisfaction.

Unfortunately, my 3570K refused outright to boot beyond 4.2GHz.

I'm not sure if it's my motherboard or the HSF, but I'm not too phased. 4.2GHz is all I really expected with an air cooler at that price anyway.
