Advice please Standard or OC

Mike UK

I am upgrading my card and currently looking at a 3080 after much too and throwing...

My question is whats the real difference between say:

ASUS GeForce RTX 3080 10 GB ROG Strix GAMING Graphics Card

ASUS GeForce RTX 3080 10 GB ROG Strix GAMING OC Graphics Card

What does the OC give you the other doesn't and is it worth it? And I mean in general not just specifically for this 1 card.

Background I have converted the space under my stair case into a gaming man cave I want a good cooling system that is quiet and trying to hit 140 frames with my 144hz monitor on 1440p high settings. I need the fans to run kind of quiet as i have the door open and its close to my wife who reads/watches TV. I would rather the card ran stable than erratic or high temp constantly.

Thank you for reading.

That without OC have probably higher clocks than referrence ones anyway, so is OC too, but not that much as OC version.

Get normal. If OC costs the same - get OC and downclock it to normal.

Lifetime is more important than 3 or 4 fps more.

Not much OC headroom on the 3080 so get the cheapest option. Or better yet, just wait for the AMD 6800XT.

I Dont think that possible with those Card. I mean none of those 3080 Card can have low noise level unless its Water Cooled.. unless u modify the gpu fan speed to 1000 RPM for whisper quiet but the fan still audible tho if the pc is on your desk. So you must have nice PC airflow if u want to make the fan speed stay somewhere between 800-1000rpm.
