Official Gigabyte amazon store scalping RTX3070s

Juanitology

The official Gigabyte store on Amazon casually selling RTX3070 cards for 900 bucks. 80% above MSRP. Guess they figured they might as well do the scalping themselves rather than sell them at MSRP and let others get that money.

supply and demand,

low supply + high demand= high prices

also check the msrp of that exact card not the FE, i could say "hey look evga is selling this card for 200% over msrp" while pointing at a kingpin

Pretty sure nvidia isn't cool with their partners selling cards for 80% above MSRP regardless of supply and demand.

Wouldn't the seller have to be Gigabyte themselves in order for it to be them scalping? In the image it shows a third party seller.

oh you're right. nevermind then I'm dumb. I saw the "visit the gigabyte store" thing and thought it was being sold by the official store.

You do have a point though it says "gigabyte store" under the product name, I wonder if Gigabyte or Amazon has any control of the sellers or pricing on their store page.

i dont think anyone has the motive to create a further dox, it would be an odd thing to go after someone for no apparent reason

That's not what i said, but OP had his address partially in the image.

With the information there you could pinpoint the neighborhood that OP lives in but not house/building number.

I have heard the initial batch has rebate for board maker from nvidia and cost to make is very high for board makers with nvidia keeping its profit high.  So it would not be surprising if when availability is normal prices are all over msrp.  Not by 80%, more like 10-25%.  If a rx6800 16gb and rtx3070 8gb end up with same real price when both are in stock, just wow.  Interesting times....
