New dead PSU? | Corsair HX1200i

Hello all 

I just got my new PSU today, the HX1200i from Corsair.
After installing it, when I turn on my PC, the PSU fan goes full blast, 3 out of 8  case fans in total spins up, my GPU fan spins up, my HDD's spins up, no post on screen. Power LED on my motherboard does light up. 
Doesn't matter if I use my old cables, from my HX750 from Corsair, or the new ones from the HX1200i, I get the same result as explained^. 

So I put my old HX750 back in my PC and it runs again - no problems what so ever. So I've requested a RMA to the retailer I bought the HX1200i from - currently waiting for answers. 

It's certain that I got a half dead PSU, right? I'd like to hear other opinions

Assuming you plugged it in right, yes, that's what it sounds like to me.

Careful swapping cables tho, I learned the other day not all of them are interchangeable with each other even if they fit, although Corsair to Corsair should be fine.

I don't think I fully understand that PSU CABLE COMPATIBILITY list. 

I'm pretty sure I plugged everything in right, I mean, pretty sure all cables was all the way in, and you can't really plug them in wrong, since the 24pin has its own port in the PSU and the CPU and PCIE power shares the same ports in the PSU. And it seems like none of the cables are directional. 

Have I misunderstod something maybe?

I did try and only plug in the 24pin ATX, 8pin CPU and PCIE 6+2pin for GPU, no sata power with only the new cables and it's the same result. 

What do you guys think?

Make sure you quote us so we see your responses

 

We were under the impression that you re-used the cables from your old PSU but if you replaced all the cables with the included ones, the PSU does appear to be faulty and you don't have any concerns with compatibility

Yeah I can explain what I did. 

The HX750w I already had - the one that works - I use this CP-8920050, which is compatible with HXi series. 

But it doesn't include a 24pin, so instead I use a NZXT 24pin white extender, on the 24pin of the PSU. 
The 24pin and the 8pin for CPU isn't modular. My HX750 is semi modular. 

So with the 1200i, I first used the NZXT 24pin white sleeve extender, PCIE white sleeved cables, CPU white sleeved, and the original sata power cables from the HX750 and that didn't work. Got the result as I explained. I then tried plugging the new PSU cables(24pin, CPU, GPU) into the motherboard, didnt use the sleeved cables or NZXT extender, same result. Then I took out the old sata power, so I only used the new 24pin, 8pin CPU and PCIE power for GPU, and same result. And I really did push alot to make sure they were plugged properly in. 

But my system boots and works perfectly with my old HX750, with white sleeved corsair kit and the NZXT 24pin extender
