1gbps connection capping out at 150-400mbps

I have cat5e ethernet and a very good router on a fibre connection, I don't know what is bottlenecking the speed please help.

What are you using to test the speed? Do you have another cable and device to test with?

It could be your computer. Not all computers are capable of gigabit ethernet.

It's very rare, though on modern machines.

Though my Toshiba Satellite with XP Pro x86 isn't.

I used Ookla, google speed test, steam download and xbox game pass download. I do not have another cable that long.

Just checked my mobo does support gigabit ethernet.

Cat5e supports gigabit so that souldn't be a problem.
