Are you sure thermal pads are in the correct place?

How well did your Tim spread?(Tim should cover the whole gpu die)

Fans are acting normal?

i spread the paste evenly on the die, looked good spread last time i removed cooler

and there are really no pads between cooler and gpu...hm strange

an old coolermaster elite atx tower, elite xxx, 7yrs+?

but gpu overheated before case is warm

Remove the sidepanel and see what happens. Is it the elite with the ring of colour in the front? Those have like no airflow at all and cause basically anything to overheat.

First of all the gpu is old.

And you sure you have no thermal pads whatsoever?

Because, wow, it needs those...
